My older son and I just spent the last ninety minutes being entertained by my dad who was telling us hilariously unbelievable stories from his years working in the hospitality industry. Every now and then he would ask if he had ever told me the one about so-and-so, and regardless of the true answer I said no each time, just because I wanted to hear him tell it again.
The scene in “The Bad News Bears” where the Yankees pitcher finally gets tired of his Dad/Coach’s verbal abuse and refuses to throw the ball to his teammates (allowing the Bears to win the game), and then silently walks off the field with his mother after handing his stunned father the ball is both heartbreaking and triumphant. #tears
